About Art Works Society
Arnaudville is quickly becoming known as an artists' haven. The Art Works Society is made up of a group of volunteers dedicated to facilitating artists with places to live and work on a short-term, semi-permanent or permanent basis; organizing workshops and classes for adults and children; supporting and creating a steady stream of new art commerce; and working to establish more festivals and events such as Arnaudville Potluck, La Table Francaise, Brown Bag Club, Antique Roadscheaux, JAMbalaya Music Jam, Fire and Water -- Le Feu et l'Eau, Bayou Blues Revival -- as well as a music, lecture and teaching series.
When Hurricane Katrina and Hurricne Rita devastated the State of Louisiana, Arnaudville responded. The Arts Works Society was a way to organize displaced artists and artisans. Made up of local artists and art lovers, property owners, and the Arnaudville Chamber of Commerce, the Art Works Society now allows artists to directly invest in building a community. As a result, art, our newest crop, is helping to develop a creative economy here in Arnaudville and the surrounding areas while providing artists with a place to call home. It has become known as "The Arnaudville Experiment."

In our efforts to help artists and artisans, Art Works society was formed under the auspices of the Arnaudville Chamber of Commerce. A directory of artists and artisans has been developed and can be accessed by clinking on this link. With contact information, especially email addresses, artists/artisans can easily be notified of upcoming events such as Le Feu et l'Eau -- Fire and Water, facilitating participation in the events.
